Threading Over Waxing, Or The Other Way Round
Both remove hair from the root, so both last roughly the same three to five weeks. Threading is more precise for shaping — brows, a beard line — because the therapist controls a single hair at a time. Waxing covers a larger area faster, which is why it's what we reach for on chest, back and stomach.
If you've never had either, expect a short, sharp sensation rather than ongoing pain, and skin that is slightly pink for an hour or two afterwards. Neither is a reason to avoid the other next time.
Preparation Matters More Than People Think
Hair needs to be a few millimetres long for threading or waxing to actually grip it — freshly shaved skin won't take a wax. If you're booking a beard line or chest wax, leave it a week or two since your last shave or trim rather than coming straight after one.
Between Visits
Avoid hot showers, saunas and heavy exercise for 24 hours after waxing, since warmth and sweat on freshly opened pores is what causes irritation and ingrown hairs, not the waxing itself. A gentle exfoliation two or three days later keeps the area clear as regrowth starts.
For eyebrow threading, most clients rebook every three to four weeks — the shape holds cleanly for that long before it needs tidying rather than reshaping.
Manicure & Pedicure, Honestly
A men's manicure or pedicure is exactly what it sounds like — shape, tidy and condition, no polish unless you ask for it. The deluxe versions add a scrub and a paraffin wax soak, which genuinely helps with dry, cracked skin through the colder months rather than being an upsell for its own sake.
