One Client, One Artist
Most of what makes the atelier feel different comes down to a single structural decision, and everything else follows from it.
We Do Not Overlap Chairs
In most salons an artist starts a colour, leaves it to process, and begins someone else's cut in the gap. It is efficient, and it is why so many appointments feel like being handled rather than attended to.
We do not do it. Your artist is booked to you for the whole of your appointment, which means the processing time is spent checking your colour rather than someone else's. It roughly halves what a chair can earn in a day, and it is the single thing clients mention most often.
The Same Artist, Each Time
Continuity matters more in this work than people expect. An artist who knows that your colour lifts warm, that your fringe never sits where it should, or that your skin reacts to a particular active, starts each appointment several steps ahead.
We keep detailed notes for every client and match you back to the same person by default. If you would rather try someone else, just say — nobody here takes it personally.
Consultation Is Not A Formality
Every appointment opens with a proper conversation, and nothing chemical or irreversible begins until the plan and the price have been said out loud and agreed. If what you are asking for is not achievable today, you will hear that at the start rather than discover it at the end.
It also means we sometimes talk people out of things. Turning down a service that would damage hair, or suggesting a cheaper one that solves the actual problem, costs us a booking and keeps a client for a decade.
Two Studios, One Standard
The Gentlemen's studio is a genuinely separate operation — its own therapists, its own space, its own atmosphere and its own pace — rather than a corner of the salon with a different sign above it. What the two share is the standard: the same unhurried appointments, the same consultation, the same refusal to rush a result.
Couples and wedding parties frequently book across both on the same morning, and our concierge coordinates the timings so nobody is left waiting for anyone else.
The Unglamorous Details
The parts nobody photographs, which nonetheless decide whether a salon is a good one.
Sterilised, Not Wiped
Every blade, comb and implement that touches skin is either single-use or fully sterilised between clients. Treatment rooms are reset completely rather than tidied. It is the baseline, but the number of salons where it is not is the reason we mention it at all.
No Exceptions On Colour
A skin allergy test is required at least 48 hours before any colour service if you have not visited within six months. Reactions are rare and genuinely serious, and no amount of inconvenience is worth the alternative. We will reschedule rather than proceed without one.
Cruelty-Free Throughout
Premium European lines for colour and care, bond-building systems for any lightening, professional-grade actives in the treatment rooms — and nothing tested on animals anywhere in the range. Alternatives are kept for most products where a client has a sensitivity.
About Us
What makes Lavish Looks different from a larger salon?
Scale, mostly. We run one client per artist at a time, which means nobody is left processing in a corner while their stylist starts on someone else. It is slower and it is deliberately less profitable per chair.
The trade is that you get an unhurried appointment, the same artist each visit, and a consultation that actually shapes the service rather than confirming a booking.
Are the Ladies' and Gentlemen's studios really separate?
Yes — separate space, separate therapists, separate menus and separate atmospheres, within one address. The gentlemen's studio is not a corner of the salon with a different sign on it.
Couples and wedding parties frequently book across both on the same morning, and we coordinate the timings so nobody is sitting waiting.
What products do you use?
Premium European lines for colour and care, bond-building systems for any lightening work, and professional-grade actives in the treatment rooms. Everything we stock is cruelty-free.
If you have a sensitivity, an allergy or a preference, tell your artist — we keep alternatives for most of the range and would far rather adapt than have you react.
Do you train your own artists?
Every artist arrives already qualified and experienced; we do not take on juniors to work on clients. Beyond that, the team trains continuously with the houses whose products we use, and each artist spends time each year on technique outside their own specialism.
It is the main reason our team is small and grows slowly.
